Last week, we learned how to be happier by scheduling small changes in our day.
Today, let's unlock up to 2 hours of daily free time by scheduling a time to check texts, social media and personal email.
Start by taking 5 minutes to write down all of the "little" things you do each day. Here are some examples:
- Checking texts
- Checking personal email
- Checking social media
- Googling random stuff you are curious about
Now, take 5 minutes to schedule 2 to 3 15-minute time blocks each day to do these things.
Make a habit of doing the "little" things every day at your scheduled time, and only then. You can remind yourself by asking, "Is this (texting, IG, etc.) on my schedule for right now?" If the answer is no, save it for later.
People spend 2.5 hours per day on social media. So, while scheduling your digital activities may seem like a small change, it will unlock up to 2 hours of free time for you every single day!
